The section that I found helpful were the trouble shooting section, and the one on connecting the nova VM to the outside network.

What I found missing in the blog are the answers to the questions,
- Why use glusterfs_native driver as the share backend for Manila? Why not just use generic driver?
A short answer to these questions in the beginning of the blog would be nice to know for the reader.ram rajahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01762674778092957613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7167705376209749625.post-15903404581826408642015-05-14T03:50:47.929-07:002015-05-14T03:50:47.929-07:00Nice writeup Deepak.

I am glad this was helpful.

Reg. cli output formatting, I haven't explored the blogspot editor much, but will check if it has any options for better formatting.

IIRC i used the markdown syntax from which I converted to html, so in md, if you use "```" it doesn't do any formatting, eq to blockquote of html. Even if i do some formatting, it would either truncate or wrap the text, which will make it even harder for the cli output to be understood. I will explore better ways, thanks for the suggestion and comment again!Deepak C Shettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02695805454384013400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7167705376209749625.post-41424052388371267172015-05-11T02:23:09.819-07:002015-05-11T02:23:09.819-07:00Deepak,

It has been very much helpful for me, as a matter of fact this is the only source of detailed documentation to setup GlusterFS backend. Your explanation of the configuration files provided a good head start into understanding the manila setup, which otherwise is very difficult due to the lack of documentation with examples.

I have a suggestion though. For all the cli output, the current formatting makes it hard to read the output. I'm not sure if the editor allows better formatting of cli output.

sachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07755157008095733405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7167705376209749625.post-6374221882038919142015-02-12T04:20:07.519-08:002015-02-12T04:20:07.519-08:00FWIW, added least supported version of GlusterFS t...FWIW, added least supported version of GlusterFS that is needed for this feature to work in Manila. Also added the max supported version of GlusterFS, since newer changes made in GlusterFS breaks the Manila native driver (which will be fixed in near future, until then the min and max supported version of GlusterFS can still be used for Manila usecase). See section "Setting up GlusterFS volume" for more details. -- Thanks DeepakDeepak C Shettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02695805454384013400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7167705376209749625.post-89956399935695079832015-01-27T21:26:59.618-08:002015-01-27T21:26:59.618-08:00Thanks Bharata. Thanks Bharata.Deepak C Shettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02695805454384013400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7167705376209749625.post-52789104945011318392015-01-27T21:22:47.397-08:002015-01-27T21:22:47.397-08:00Good beginning Deepak - looking forward for more s...Good beginning Deepak - looking forward for more such postsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
